The Opportunity: Auburn University

The Strategy:
Auburn University presented an ambitious plan in the construction of a new student center building on campus with an opening of May, 2010. New foodservice brands and venues were incorporated in to the overall general construction plan.

"The Auburn Student Center since 2008 has become a familiar place for many students. The building was designed with the goal to give students a place to call their own on campus and provide the services and facilities needed for the social, personal and intellectual development of individual students and groups of students. There are a number of things that go on in the Student Center and in all aspects the Student Center has been a success." The Auburn University's Social Network

The project also involved simultaneously the renovation of the food service venues at Foy Hall, an existing residential/dining facility

Technical Data:
The challenge is this project presented as a tight timeframe for foodservice installation between June 1st and August 15th. The Project Manager coordinated the foodservice schedule and project implementation with the General Contractor of the Student Center structure, the foodservice general contractor and kitchen equipment, millwork and signage vendors along with the University Administration and Chartwells (our client?s ) management team.

Project Value: $4,500,00.00


Features: Student Union Center New Construction-Foodservice venues were located on three levels of the new center.

The following food court venues on the Main Floor and Upper Deck:

  • Chef Yan Can Cook
  • Chef's Table
  • Coyote Jacks
  • Mama Leone
  • Starbucks on Lower Deck
  • Chick Fil A on Upper Deck

Free Standing Outtakes Convenience-Store on the Main Floor

Full Service Main Production Kitchen on the Main Floor

Second Floor-Private Dining and Conference Rooms with Service Kitchen

Foy Renovation includes the following venues:

  • Salsaritas
  • Mondo Sub Shop
  • Southern Grill Home Cooking
  • Wild Greens Fresh Made To Order Salads
  • Au Bon Pain Soup
